Lapo Elkann was born in New-York on the 7th of October 1977.
The founder of Italia Independent, Independent Ideas and LA Holding, he graduated from London Guildhall University.

In 2001 he was Henry Kissinger’s personal assistant at Kissinger Associates in New York City.

In 2002 he joined Fiat as the director of the Brand Promotion team for the Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari and Maserati brands, helping to bring the brand closer to a younger consumer and relaunching the company’s image at a time of severe crisis for this automobile manufacturer.

In 2007 he founded Italia Independent and Independent Ideas.

In 2009 he founded LA Holding.

Lapo Elkann is a global ambassador of the Sheba Medical Center in TelHashomer (Israel), Worldwide ambassador of the Triennale Design Museum and a member ofthe board at Phillips de Pury.

In 2009 he was included in Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed Hall of Fame. He was elected Man of the Year by GQ Germany and GQ Spain in 2007.

Lapo Elkann develops multiple researches through his firm Italia Independent today, both on the models and on the materials touching fashionably or the design. He likes mixing the disciplines, the periods and the styles. We owe him in particular the new look of Fiat 500 or the dressing in jeans Denim of the refrigerator Smeg.
